Dear Alumni,
On Saturday, June 28th, <2025 New Alumni Welcome / New Students Send-off Event> was held at Baekyang Nuri Hall at Yonsei University. Thank you to your warm interest and participation, the event concluded successfully. Approximately 130 alumni attended, making the occasion even more meaningful and memorable.
The program began with a congratulatory video celebrating the admission of new students, followed by a warm welcome speech from the President of Columbia Alumni Association Korea Dr. Yongho Kim ('92 GSAS). This was followed by introductions of the alumni board members and a heartfelt series of greetings from new students and recent graduates, warmly welcomed by applause and cheers from senior alumni — all creating a friendly and uplifting atmosphere.
During Part 1: Orientation, we provided practical information on academic life and local living in New York for the incoming students soon heading abroad. The Alumni Board also introduced opportunities for alumni engagement through school-based groups, hobby clubs, and career-related mentorship to support continued networking and connection within the community.
Part 2: Networking was held at Chingu Chingu in front of Yonsei University's main gate. There, attendees gathered by school, introduced themselves, and enjoyed a meaningful exchange across generations of alumni.
This event was offered free of charge to new students, current students, and graduates — made possible by the generous support of many alumni.
We extend our deepest gratitude especially to:
- Dr. Yongho Kim ('92 GSAS), President of CAA Korea, for generously sponsoring the event including the venue and catering; and
- Wonsang Yu ('03 CBS), Vice President of CAA Korea and CEO of Yuyu Pharma, for energizing the event with generous donations of energy gels and Vitamin C products.
Once again, we sincerely congratulate all incoming students and recent graduates on this new chapter in your lives. We look forward to welcoming you again at our official <2025 Columbia Year-End Gala> scheduled for the evening of Friday, December 5th.
