Dear Alumni,
On December 6th (Friday), we held a memorable <Columbia Year-End Gala 2024 > at Lotte Hotel Seoul. 202 alumni attended the gala which began with an opening speech by President Yongho Kim ('92 GSAS), followed by the General Meeting. The first part of the meeting was an accounting report, which Auditor Hyung Tak Hong confirmed had no abnormalities. Second, the election of officers was held, and the proposal to re-elect the current president, Yongho Kim was presented. With more than one third of the voting members present, President Yongho Kim was unanimously approved by majority of the members present in accordance with Articles 10 and 12 of the alumni association bylaws.
After part one of the gala, we had a nice buffet dinner with 30 different kinds of food, best dishes prepared by the chef's station, sweet desserts, red wine, and enjoyed connecting with alumni who we had not seen in a long time. In part two of the gala, we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of Columbia Alumni Association Korea (1954-2024) and cut a three-tiered cake. With loud applause, all alumni stood up to thank the advisors (past presidents), auditors, and vice presidents who have been dedicated to the alumni association for more than 30 years. Next, we awarded the four winning filmmakers who participated in the "70th Anniversary Event,” watching their winning films together and being immersed in the memories of their time at Columbia. Last but not least, in part three, we played the traditional "Columbia Trivia & Games." This year, we had the largest number of sponsored prizes ever with more than two-thirds of the alumni in attendance winning prizes, and all alumni left the event with a big smile on their faces as everyone received a "Winter Gift Set."
Once again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the advisory board, vice presidents, Lotte Group for their support and assistance in making the Columbia Year-End Gala a success, to the sponsor companies and sponsor alumni, and to all the alumni who attended the gala despite the busy holiday season. I would also like to thank the members of our Executive Board for their hard work in organizing this event. We wish all our alumni health and prosperity in the new year 2025. Happy New Year!
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Yongho Kim('92GSAS), President
Columbia Alumni Association Korea
